About us

Thalgarrah Environmental Education Centre is a New South Wales Department of Education facility offering environmental education programs for  students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Thalgarrah also provides support to teachers and schools in Environmental Education and Education for Sustainability.

Thalgarrah is on the site of the former Thalgarrah Public School and adjacent to the Swallowfield Wildlife Refuge and the Gara River. These provide a rich diversity of sites of both natural and  cultural significance. The Wildlife Refuge is one of the few remaining remnant eucalypt woodlands on the New England Tablelands.

Thalgarrah Environmental Education Centre operates on the traditional lands of the Anaiwan people. We pay our respects to the Aboriginal culture, the Aboriginal elders and to the special relationship Aboriginal people have with the land.
